The process of applying epoxy paint starts with the preparation of your garage floor.Inadequate surface preparation is very often the cause of unsatisfactory results.  First of all you need to scrub the floor with a hard brush and then clear the rubbish so generated.  You will also need to clean it using some mild acid and then scrub it thoroughly.These are usually referred to as acid etching.

The process of acid etching is followed by scrubbing of the concrete floor, using a warm soap solution in water and clearing it away.At the end of it all, you may still be left with certain water soluble impurities that need to be rid of by scrubbing the floor with a de-greaser and rinsing it off with water.The mild acid does not remove grease and oils from the garage floors. It’s of utmost importance to check that rinsing water is not stuck on the garage floor, for if it remains there, you have to repeat the exercise once again.

Having thus cleaned the floor, it should be left to dry.The application of epoxy garage paint has to be consistent. To prevent the formation of blisters and discoloring of the floor, you should ensure that humidity levels are not abnormally high or low. Generally it suffices to apply two to three coats of paint.

Wood flooring has long been used in the kitchen, but it can lead to high maintenance costs.  Wood aborbs moisture, causing it to warp and crack over time.  When a wood floor absorbs too much moisture it can begin to bow up or down in the middle, producing an unsightly and uneven surface.  The only solution to this problem is to sand down the bowing section, or to go the expensive route and replace the floor.  Neither of these are very attractive options, and involve many hours as well as thousands of dollars.  While a properly finished and maintained wood floor may resist these problems, wood flooring is certainly more prone to suffer from them.

Slate and ceramic tile are more reliable.  Tile and slate do not suffer from water exposure, and do not suffer from warping or cracking.  As fairly tough materials, they undergo little expansion or contraction.
Slate and ceramic flooring can be found in a multitude of styles.  Slate and ceramic flooring are also very slip resistant, making them a better surface to use in the kitchen as well.  Hardwood flooring may be hazardous when wet, especially if it has been exposed to moisture.  When using slate as a kitchen surface, be sure to go with a low gloss or finish for extra slip protection.

Laminate flooring is a great alternative to both wood and slate.  To achieve that hardwood look without all the associated upkeep problems, laminate flooring can be a wonderful alternative.  Laminate flooring is easy to install, affordable, and very resistant to both water damage and stains.

Decorating a home is a large job, but for most, it is a delightful task.  Of course , home is where to heart is, and folk are ready to go through great expense and great effort to decorate their abode in that perfect style.  As hardwood flooring makes a comeback in appreciation ( vs most rooms being covered with carpet as in recent decades ), area rugs are also increasing in appreciation.  With this increase in demand comes an increase in supply, and in the decisions available on the market today.  How does one decide on the perfect rug?  Here are some straightforward guidelines.

Perhaps the biggest consideration is size.  Area rugs come in all sorts of sizes and styles, ranging from tiny accent rugs to room-size coverings.  Obviously, the room will need to be measured to determine the correct size.  Room size isn’t the only consideration, however.  The function of both the room and the rug must be taken accounted for when deciding the acceptable rug size.  Is the rug meant to anchor a specific furniture grouping?  In this example, the appropriate size will be far smaller than if the rug is supposed to cover an entire room.  It’s helpful to use a tape measure to visualize different sizes in the room before going shopping, as the size will always look different in the store than it will in the home.

Also needing to be considered are shape, color, and pattern.  Rectangular rugs seem to be the hottest, but square, circle, and oval are all making strides in renown.  As far as color is worried, area rugs are integral to a room’s color range.  They can function as an accent, that may stand out ; as an anchor, which is less obvious ; or they can tie the entire decorating scheme together.  In order to get the best match, take a fabric swatch or paint chip with for the shopping trip.  Patterns vary significantly nowadays, from traditional floral and oriental designs that repeat a particular motif over and over, to giant, single-shape patterns that are only featured once, to geometrical designs of varying scales.  All these considerations have a huge impact on a room and must be considered carefully to buy the ideal area rug!
